Sustainability – our mission

Sustainability is embedded in our mission statement.

Figura Planning undertakes work and research in planning policy, development delivery, and spatial data analysis to deliver social, environmental, and economic benefits to society.

We understand the issues of climate change, both from a personal perspective and from professional work on low carbon development and garden communities.

Our aim as a consultancy is to support policies and developments that deliver in the public interest.  We will promote sustainable development, which we believe brings social, economic and/or environmental benefits to the wider community as well as to the promoter.  We do not accept work that only delivers monetary benefit for an application.  For the same reason, we are unlikely to take on work for objectors specifically seeking to limit well located development delivering important housing, social or economic opportunities for others.

Our Corporate Social and Environmental Policy is:

• Only accept work commissions from clients who are willing to prioritise environmental and public interests within their projects.
• Take every opportunity to use planning to improve outcomes in relation to the environment and social justice.
• Transport hierarchy for all staff work and meetings.
• active travel or virtual methods first, public transport second and private vehicle only when there are no alternatives.
• Maximising remote working and paperless consultations.
• Reduce, Reuse, Recycle all materials in the office.
